Github is now the most popular open source forge, having surpassed Sourceforge, Google Code and Microsoft's CodePlex in total number of commits for the period of January to May 2011, according to data released today by Black Duck Software...

...Black Duck also found that C++ and Java were the most popular languages for commits in these forges during this period of time.

Gov 2.0 needs a GitHub for Data. | InfoVegan

Why can I not type into a console gitdata install census-2010 or gitdata install census-2010 —format=mongodb and have everything I need to interface with the coming census data?

It's amazing how forward-thinking this guys is when, technically, everything he proposes can be done today.
